We are looking for a proven leader who can combine strong regulatory knowledge with effective operational management and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children.

The opportunity
This is an opportunity to play a leading role in building a new service from the ground up, with the autonomy to develop the staff team, establish effective systems and help shape the culture and standards of the home.
Working closely with the Responsible Individual and directors, you will have the support to establish a compliant, child-centred service and contribute to the long-term growth of the business. The package also includes a proposed 10% business share, subject to the agreed structure and terms.
Key responsibilities
Ofsted registration and service development
- Lead and coordinate the home’s registration process, including the relevant SC1 and SC2 applications and supporting documentation.
- Ensure the Statement of Purpose, policies, procedures and operational systems meet applicable regulatory requirements.
- Prepare the premises, documentation and service arrangements for registration and commencement of operations.
- Establish robust systems for monitoring compliance, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
Leadership and team development
- Recruit, select and develop a competent, values-led residential care team.
- Ensure safer recruitment practices, employment checks, staff records and induction arrangements are completed to the required standard.
- Establish effective supervision, performance management, training and staff development processes.
- Promote a positive, accountable culture focused on safeguarding, consistency and high-quality care.
Safeguarding and quality of care
- Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, applicable Quality Standards and relevant Ofsted guidance.
- Lead on safeguarding, care planning, risk assessments, behaviour support and placement matching.
- Ensure children’s individual needs, including emotional, behavioural and learning needs, are understood and appropriately supported.
- Maintain effective incident reporting, record-keeping, complaints management and quality assurance arrangements.
- Prepare for Ofsted inspections and implement improvements where required.
Operational and strategic management
Work collaboratively with the Responsible Individual and directors to establish and maintain effective governance.
Monitor staffing, resources and service performance to support safe and sustainable operations.
Contribute to service development, placement planning and the long-term success of the home.

To be considered for this position, you must demonstrate:
- Proven experience as a Registered Manager within an Ofsted-regulated children’s residential home.
- A successful track record of setting up and registering a children’s home and subsequently managing its operation.
- Strong working knowledge of Ofsted registration requirements, including SC1 and SC2 applications.
- A thorough understanding of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards and safeguarding responsibilities.

- Knowledge and experience of supporting children with EBD, learning disabilities or complex needs relevant to the proposed service.
